REGION 4 : Training of Co-ordinating Group of Non Governmental Organisation on the 30th October, 2019

Training commenced on the 30th September, 2019 @9am with approximately fifteen participants at the Sophia Location.

The training was in the form of a ‘three hour’ presentation covering the following areas:

  1. Which Act (s) have been repealed as it relates to Juvenile Offenders?
  2. What happens if they are pending matters under the Training Schools Act for wandering, begging and like offences against a juvenile?
  3. What happens if they are pending matters under the Juvenile Offenders Act, Cap. 10:03 against a person who was a child or
  4. What happens if they are pending charges for the offence of escape from school under the Education Act against a child or juvenile as defined by this Act?
  5. What happens if they are Offences committed before the coming into force of this Act but for which no proceedings had commenced?
  6. Where should a juvenile be sent if found guilty of an offence?
  7. In which circumstances should a juvenile be diverted?
  8. What is the aim of the Juvenile Justice Act 2018?
