Our Approach
Three pillars, one promise: second chances
Built from ground research with youth, parents, teachers, and communities across Guyana.
Co-created By Youth
Creative concepts from the MOHA & UNICEF SBC Workshop
Youth, parents, teachers, and police came together to design these messages. Real people, real voices.
Between January and March, the Juvenile Diversion, Prevention and Rehabilitation Campaign conducted focus groups, interviews, and a Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) Workshop to identify the messages that would resonate with youth, families, and communities.
"Be the One Who Listens"
Both youth and teachers called for parents to step up, proposing content such as the poster above, a simple guide that connects parents to a WhatsApp hub offering real-time advice from Guidance Counsellors and peer parents on listening and protecting their children.
"Kick for Glory"
"Buss a move, not a head." Diversion is not one-size-fits-all. For some, it's football; for others, welding or dance. Even a TikTok challenge can mobilise youth toward positive engagement. The key is structure, like after‑school leagues at community or school centres, that gives young people a reason to show up and stay out of trouble.
"Badness Nah We TING!"
To truly reach young people, the campaign meets them where they are, with a calypso/dancehall jingle that sticks. Designed for radio and school PA systems, its hook delivers a message that resonates: "Think! Choose what's right! Be the one who shines your light."
🧠Hashtags developed by students: "Think Before You Act”, “Football Over Violence #FOV”, “Positivity is We Ting!”
